Anna Johnson Head ShotAnna Johnson is an award-winning journalist currently working for the Times-News as its city/county government reporter. She’s also covered business, half-a-dozen municipalities and nonprofit sectors during her more than two years with the daily paper in Burlington, N.C.

She enjoys finding ways to make local government more relatable and meaningful to average readers and relishes using new tools to share her stories and content. She’s formerly worked or interned at several newspapers across North Carolina and is a 2012 graduate from Elon University where she often stayed up too late, drank a copious amount of black coffee¬†and managed a staff of 50 college students as the editor-in-chief of The Pendulum.

You can usually find her at city hall, submitting public record requests or several tabs into a dataset. ¬†She’s an expert thumb wrestler, had a weakness for hedgehogs and volunteers with the Central Carolina Jaycees. She’s served as a regional director and program manager with the North Carolina Jaycees for the last three years.
